The ball is a hard leather-seamed spheroid, using a circumference of 9 inches (23 cm). The ball provides a "seam": 6 rows of stitches attaching the leather shell on the ball to your string and cork inside. The seam on a brand new ball is well known and allows the bowler propel it with
